Alexander Stone, MD
Staff Anesthesiologist, Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine | Brigham & Women’s Hospital

Dr. Stone’s research interests focus on how healthcare systems can be optimized to provide the high quality perioperative acute pain management. He has worked on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways implementation and research on both the local and national level. He has performed large database analyses on patients with chronic pain, as well as performed economic analyses of ERAS programs and COVID-19 airway teams staffing. Dr. Stone will continue to perform pragmatic clinical trials and he hopes to forge multidisciplinary collaborations to expand access to safe and high-quality regional anesthesia techniques.

Dr. Stone attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, underwent residency training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in anesthesiology, and completed the regional anesthesia and acute pain fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Stone was named the American Society for Regional Anesthesia (ASRA) Pain Medicine fellow of the year in 2022.
