Mieke Soens – Foundation of Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) mentored research training grant (MRTG) for her work entitled “The Role of Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators in the Development of Persistent Post-Surgical Pain.” Her mentoring team is comprised of Drs. Serhan (primary) and Rathmell and Schreiber.
Vesela Kovacheva – Foundation of Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) mentored research training grant (MRTG) for her work entitled “Genome Wide Association Study of Patients with History of Postpartum Hemorrhage.”Her mentors are Richa Saxena, PhD, Brian Bateman, MD, MSc, and Kathryn Gray, MD, PhD.
Naida Cole – 2019 BWH Faculty Career Development Award for her project entitled “Second-line Uterotonics in Postpartum Hemorrhage: A Randomized Clinical Trial.”
Sara Seifert – 2019 Society of Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) Young Investigator Grant for her project entitled “Tranexamic Acid Administered After Delivery: Maternal Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Coagulation Status.” Her mentorship team consists of Drs. Michaela Farber, Brian Bateman, and Danni Carusi as  well as Susan Goobie from Children’s Hospital.
Ethan Brovman – SCA Early Career Investigator Award for his presentation entitled “Risk Factors for Post-operative Reintubation after CABG: a bi-institutional study.”
Danny Muehlschlegel – Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) Kaplan Leadership Development Award.
Vesela Kovacheva – Spring 2019 Shark Tank Finalist – BWH Health & Technology Innovation Fund for her work on “Harnessing the superpower of machine learning to improve patient care during Cesarean Section.”
Ehren Nelson – HMS Eleanor and Miles Shore Fellow, 2019-2020
Project aims to create a hands-on, cadaver based simulation approach to learning at the Stratus Simulation Center for interventional pain management trainees.

Congratulations to Deb Culley on receiving a grant from National Institutes of Health (NIH) for her project titled “Cognition and the immunology of postoperative outcomes.”
This research study will investigate postoperative delirium in patients 70 years of age or older, undergoing elective primary lower joint replacement or spine procedures.
